BALLAST STRIPPING — STATUS
STRIPPING SYSTEM: two lines per segregation — big cargo line and small stripping line. Pump stack → STR → branch junction → SBR → the segregation's own stripping line → STRM → manifold spool between the INNER (PM/SM) and OUTER (PMO/SMO) manifold valves → shore. SXO joins a stripping line to the stripping common line for tank-to-tank stripping. Each tank also has a stack panel on the board — PRG cargo purging valve, STR stripping valve, CD cofferdam purge (seal check). SUPER STRIPPING: an air ejector (venturi) on its own suction line to a bellmouth 25 mm off the floor — SS AIR on, SSV open into the branch pocket (gauge beside the pocket), collect, then open SBR to blow the pocket to the manifold or a tank. Stops at about 1 L — the bellmouth uncovers and the ejector draws air only. The stripping pipe joins the tank's cargo line after the cargo valve, so the stack is blown wherever the cargo line is lined up (shore or a receiving tank). Keep the pump turning slowly while purging — the impeller is the non-return valve.

Lift the discs by hand to check they are free (before cargo work) or to release pressure / vacuum. Open the purge flap only for purging or gas freeing — the tank is then open to atmosphere. In chemical mode this releases cargo vapour on deck.

Hydrostatic Gravity Head Principle:Water only drains overboard by gravity when the water surface in the ballast tank is higherthan the outside sea waterline (positive head ΔH >0).
Natural Equalization Stoppage:When tank sounding drops until the water surface reaches the outside ship draft (ΔH = 0.00 m), gravity flow naturally halts. Water cannot flow against external hydrostatic pressure!
When to Start Pump:Once gravity drainage equalizes, shut the gravity bypass valve, line up the submerged pump suction/discharge isolation valves, and start the Ballast Pump to strip the remaining bottom water down to 0.00 m.
Submerged Pump Direct Suction:The submerged deepwell pump sits inside 4P (and 4S). It draws water directly from the tank via the pump suction line. Therefore, valve V-4Pdoes NOTneed to be open to deballast 4P using the pump (per the P&ID, V-4Pis strictly dedicated for gravity filling 4P or taking suction from other tanks via the common line).

ISGOTT & MARPOL GUIDELINES
Double Valve Segregation:Incompatible parcels (e.g. Jet A-1 vs Mogas / Diesel) must always be separated by at least two closed block valves or a spectacle blind.
Density & Temperature Impact:Changing cargo grade updates the density used in all sounding-to-tonnage conversions, hydrostatic displacement, and loading computer stability calculations.
Common Line Isolation:When carrying multi-grade parcels, common line crossovers must remain securely shut to prevent cross-contamination.

RIGEL — assistant
Ask about cargo work, ballast, safety, COLREGs or this simulator, or let RIGEL write the cadet's report after a drill. It needs a full licence key and the online simulator, and it is switched off in exam mode. There is a daily limit of questions.
RIGEL: Hello. Ask me about cargo operations, ballasting, tank cleaning, inert gas, safety or the rules, and I will answer for this ship. Tick the box below if you want me to look at the ship's present situation too.
For the instructor: set the speed, prepare the ship, give the cadet problems and assess them.
View only. You can look around, but the controls below work only after you log in with the instructor password.

8 Team exercise — one ship, many stations
You are the Master and run the ship from this device. The crew join on their own phones, tablets or PCs with a 6-letter code and take a station: Chief Officer (CCR, cargo, ballast), Officer of the watch (bridge, ECDIS, radar, steering), Engineer (engine room) or Pumpman / AB (deck). Each works only his own station; you can change stations, remove anyone, lock the session and end it. Up to 6 crew. Online version only.

TANK CLEANING — instructor set-up
🧰Stripping Level PresetsTANK CLEAN & STRIP
📉 Pre-drain tanks to stripping levels to train cadets on super stripping ejectors.
STRIPPING LEVEL PRESET (instructor only)
Sets tanks to the level where the main pumping stops, so the cadet has to finish the job by stripping. Cargo: bulk discharge ends at about 0.1 % of the tank capacity (the suction well); below that the cargo pump cavitates unless it is run in stripping mode (≤ 1100 rpm, discharge valve ≤ 60 %); the pump stack is left full of cargo for purging. Ballast: 1.5 m³ stays below the ER pump bellmouth, and only the eductor can take it out. Pumps and valves are not touched.
A seal leak has no alarm — it is only found when the cadet purges the pump cofferdam (CD) and checks the exhaust trap. The heating medium is the ship's design.
Protects assessment integrity against cadet browser page reloads. Continuous background state persistence (overwriting ~4 KB in localStorage).
● AUTO-SAVE: ACTIVE
1. Continuous Auto-Save & Restore: Overwrites a compact single ~4 KB slot in localStorage every 2 seconds. When the page reloads, all alarms, overfills, and tripped pumps are restored.
2. Browser Reload Guard: window.beforeunload displays a warning confirmation dialog if the student attempts to refresh during active operations.
3. Reload Detection & Audit Log: Reload attempts during operations are logged in the instructor audit log and penalized (-10 pts in exam mode).
